Spring is finally, finally here! Spring in itself is about transformation and with that I am so happy to announce our first transformation make over.
The call went out and y’all answered, thanks to everyone who inquired about our #SpringMakeover Giveaway. We took this opportunity to not only transform a lucky lady and get her ready for spring, but to also show just how you can utilize our favorite Spring Trends.
We were ecstatic to inform Karina that she was the recipient of our make over when she responded with “OhMyGlob!” Side note: totally want to trademark that!
Karina was totally down for anything I threw her way so what else than to completely lighten her naturally dark brown hair and give her a #grannygrey inspired color.
While many people are jumping on the fashion color train, not everyone knows what it takes to get there and maintain these sought after looks. You want to find a stylist that is experienced in this game and values the integrity of their guest’s hair. There is nothing worse than great color on damaged hair. Most of these fashion colors you are seeing, the grey, greens, pinks, purples all require the hair to be lightened up pretty blonde. Which, when done improperly and not patiently can lead to damage.
In order to maintain the longevity of the color you must suck it up and wash your hair 1-2 times a week with super cool water. As much as I love my scolding hot baths, my hair color hates it! Some fashion colors can last up to 4 weeks, I have some guests that can push 6-8 weeks with their color. Choosing to go very vibrant and gradually watch it fade in to a softer pastel can increase longevity and it’s just plain fun to constantly have different colored hair. Maintaining your routine with color safe professional shampoo and conditioner is key! Don’t forget your heat protectant and serums, either! You’re freshly processed hair will be thirsty and if you’re not protecting your tresses from heat (colored or virgin) you’re asking for trouble!
With Karina we also added some layered bangs to add a youthful look to her new bob. Also adding a few extra lived in layers, gave her hair extra texture and movement.
After spending a long almost 8 hours with me, watching Kindergarten Cop, both Bill & Ted’s and most of Grease, ordering in from Marco & Pepe, she graciously posed for a few extra pictures. Check out some of our favorite, super quick, festival inspired looks that are totally DIY.
Now time for the #hairporn
