Baby Mantra is an excellent skin care company based out of Jersey City that specializes in natural, organic products for babies. I met Nupoor at Short Grain one day and she gave me a few samples to try at home with my mini-chicpea.

My little one is not a big bath fan (like most toddlers) but when she saw the new bath products all packaged together she went right in and asked for a lot of bubbles! We tried everything except the diaper rash cream since she is a little too old for that but I found other uses for it. We both really enjoyed ourselves, I think it was the longest bath she’s ever taken. Before putting her to bed I gave her a little massage using the body lotion. She loved it!

I ended up “stealing” the lotion for myself. I asked Nupoor to give us the background on Baby Mantra. I love supporting small local businesses, especially moms like Nupoor who simply created a business so she can spend more time with her children. It’s beautiful.

What do you do?
Okay, so this is Baby Mantra. My sister and I started around three and half years ago. When I had my own kids, I wanted to do something for them. My mom used to do it for us. We started making this; this is all natural skin care line. These are gluten free and PETA certified as well. All our products are EWG verified and rated “1” on EWG’s Skin Deep.

Oh, that’s amazing!

So we have skin care and bath products right now. We have a three in one bubble bath shampoo and wash, newborn shampoo and wash, which doesn’t foam up so it’s easy to rinse, common lotion, massage oil, which has avocado oil in it, which is high in vitamin e and is great for your skin, diaper rash cream, and conditioner.

We sell them at Babies R Us and obviously on Amazon and on our website (www.babymantra.com). We are based out of Jersey City; we started here, and I am still here. We manufacture them in Jersey, too.

How did you start?
This was started when I had my first daughter nine years ago, and we moved from Michigan to Jersey, and I had nothing to do because I quit my job as a computer engineer. I had a lot of time on my hands so I asked myself what should I do? So I wanted to do the same thing my mother did for us when we were young, to make stuff at home. So that is what I started doing for my daughter, and then as time went on I kept doing it, and I had my second child, and then when they both went to school, I started giving it to moms at school to try. They liked it, so my sister and I thought that we should do something with it. So that is how we came up with it, and then we worked with a chemist to get them certified.
