North of the west side cemetery and east of Journal Square lies The Marion Neighborhood. A quiet, blue collar, charming corner of the city. The type of neighborhood that reminds us multiculturalism is U.S. culture. Live gets us up every morning in the form of the path train whistling out of the tunnel so loud it could be heard from 12 blocks away; if you’re lucky enough you can feel it shaking your house. The scent of fresh bread in the summer helps everybody in the area to forget the stresses of the day. These are The People of Marion.

Thank you for this! In a time of questions, this made me smile bc I never waver in how proud I am to be from Marion Section. It’s not perfect, but growing up in that area taught me about community and acceptance. It truly is a wonderfully multi-cultural area.
