When visiting local shelters in urban areas, it is common to see large dogs having difficulty being adopted, as well as several cats roaming the streets. For anyone with pets, they know how expensive it can be to spay and neuter their animals. The costs add up, and that’s not doable for a portion of the Hudson County population (where 16 percent of households live below the poverty line). As a result, Liberty Humane Society and the team at Exchange Physical Therapy Group have worked together to help bring a low-cost spay/neuter clinic to the area.
For the first year, Liberty Humane Society will be partnering with People For Animals (PFA) to bring a mobile spay/neuter RV to the shelter in Jersey City to provide services approximately twice per month (depending on public demand and PFA availability).
The program is designed initially for large dogs (40+ pounds) and outdoor cats owned in Jersey City and Hoboken, and it would only cost $10 to spay or neuter a dog or cat.
To help Liberty Humane Society reach its fundraising goal, Exchange Physical Therapy Group is hosting a fundraiser on April 11th from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Corgi Spirits (1 Distillery Drive)! The initial goal is to not only raise enough funds for the first year of the program, which amounts to approximately $25,000, but to also create an ongoing donor base. Anyone can attend and tickets can be purchased for $25 online.
