Can I say how lucky I am? I got to play dress up with Meika at the AMT showroom and shop and wear outfits I would never even dream of. This victorian getup is definitely my favorite! My chuckaboo (close friend) Meika and I went back in time, opened up a bottle of Pimms and got absolutely “boiled owled” (drunk).
Can you tell me a little bit about the era of our outfits? In the Victorian era dresses were very bustled up, high neck and fitted. It was all about showing the women’s figure. Then moving into the 20’s things started to loosen up. There was the women’s liberation and with it hemlines grew shorter, shapes relaxed.. Women didn’t want to show their bodies, they wanted to break free of the corset.. notoriously taping down their “cupid kettle drums” (boobs) and introducing fashion as we know it today.
What are we wearing? It’s very button over bacon! (extravagant)
We are wearing 1910’s/20’s embroidered dresses. I’ve got a 1930’s boa and a vintage bottle of PIMM’s from the 1940’s. I’ve got a 1920’s celluloid clasp embroidered handbag.
You are wearing a victorian tortoise shell fan and you’ve got a 1930’s/40’s pink hat.
Alright. Let’s go out and “tickle our innards” (let’s have a drink). I am always up for beer and skittles! (good times).
Lynn, careful how you sit. You don’t want to expose your crinkum-crankum (lady part)!
Leg it, chaps, the mutton shunters (police) are coming! Let’s back slang it!! (go out the back way)
