The next stylist fashionista to be featured is Kristy Baez. She is a 21 year old aspiring model, college student and freelance artist. When she isn’t at a casting, a photoshoot, or in class, you can find her hanging out with friends or at home snuggled up with her cat Oreo. I spotted Kristy at Two Boots Pizzeria ordering a “Mr. Pink” slice with a funky embroidered shoulder bag in tow. She is so naturally beautiful and photographed so well in front of the art that is beautifully painted on the Jersey City streets. Check out her pictures and interview below.

Laury: So what’s your name and how old are you?

Kristy: My name’s Kristy Baez and I’m 21 years old.

Laury: Tell me a little bit about yourself!

Kristy: I’m a senior who attends NJCU for art therapy. I also model and draw/paint in my spare time.

Laury: Awesome! How long have you been modeling?

Kristy: I have been modeling for about 2 years now. It’s been pretty cool.

Laury: So fashion must play a huge role in your life since you’re around it so much. What are some of your favorite brands at the moment? And who are some of your favorite designers?

Kristy: Yes definitely! Some of my favorite brands right now are Off White, Richard and Grace, and Gucci. Off White does such a good job at combining modern street style with femininity, Richard and Grace is an upcoming brand that has so much potential and energy, and Gucci’s relabeling of style is so in right now. Some of my favorite designers are Donatella and Laquan Smith. They both know how to make a woman feel and look powerful.

Laury: How cool! We share some favorites. If you could describe your style in 3 words, what would they be? And what statement piece do you feel every single woman should have in her closet?

Kristy: Quirky, sexy and fun. I play a lot with my style. I wouldn’t say I have one specific style because I find pleasure in combining different looking pieces and making an outfit out of that. A statement piece every woman should have in their closet right now, maybe, is high waist leather pants.

Laury: So you said you go to NJCU. What do you love most about attending school in Jersey City?

Kristy: I love the diversity in Jersey City. Everyone is so different but we pretty much all have the same mindset when it comes to succeeding.

Laury: How are you balancing being a college student and a model/artist?

Kristy: It is sometimes difficult balancing the two, especially when fashion week starts because it falls at the start of the semester, but other than that it’s pretty easy to handle both.

Laury: Well power through girl! How do you feel like fashion influences your art and vice versa?

Kristy: I already see fashion as art so it does influence my art a lot. Maybe a color scheme on a fashion runway might influence my next choices in my art or even makeup can influence me when I draw.

Laury: Last but not least, where is your absolute FAVORITE place to go in Jersey City?

Kristy: The waterfront is definitely my favorite place. It reminds me of where I want to go but also reminds me of where I am in the present moment.
