ChicpeaJC is almost 3 months old. I remember when I first started I would tell people that I will only write about fashion, and fun shit around JC. I even specifically said that I had no intention to cover the art scene because honestly other than knowing what I like I really don’t know shit about it….
Then I started opening my eyes to what was around me; street art, galleries and the people behind it. I discovered this new world that I now have become slightly obsessed with. After meeting with Sean Lugo, Dylan Egon, Vincent Minervini, Hulbert and some new ones that shall remane nameless for now (its a surprise!!) I am even deeper entrenched in this art form. Learning about it, what inspires people to create, their messages and who they are as people, and also their favorite JC hangout spot!
Ok point is… I love this shit! and I was really happy when Anthony and I ended up in this cool alley with all sorts of amazing murals… I only recognized one of them that is by Emilio Florentine, if you guys know who did the rest please comment below!
As for my outfit: I got this sheer t-shirt in hip store on Shenkin in Tel Aviv…. Now here is the thing, I can’t sit here and pretend like all is good over there …even though I normally don’t talk about political issues in my blog. I choose to keep things light and fun… that being said, I wanted to say to my family and friends out there that I am thinking of you.
Yesterday in my hip hop class I thought to myself, if everyone just danced it out instead of fight all would be good in the world….
Now where was I….
Knee high boots… in my case more like thigh highs since I am so short! These are Via Spiga and I got them and DSW for a great price. They are Dope! and who needs pants? The black mini skirt is from American Apparel, every girl should have a black miniskirt in their closet, it is a fashion staple! As for local goods, the leather fringe bag is from my beloved Feena Boutique and the ring is from Rubella Jewelry which I purchased at the Project Earth Market a few months ago…. I love when we have street markets! The next 6th Borough market is July 20th!

Hey Chickpea,
Great photos!
I did the cartoony black-and-red-lines piece and love that you posed in front of it.
Let me know if you hear of any other walls I could do. I’ve also been thinking of how I could put my art on clothes…
Here’s a time lapse of this particular wall:

So fun to see Fluidtoons on your blog!
