I met DJ Robcast at the “I AM Inspired” panel I was a part of at Art House. He is best friends with Hayoner, stylish peep, entrepreneur and curator at the Sneaker Room on Central Ave. DJ Robcast is one stylish dude, I feel weird comparing him to a celebrity since he clearly has his own style going on, but I definitely see shades of Kanye in him #yeezus.
DJ Robcast isn’t afraid of taking risks and expressing himself through fashion. As soon as I met him I said “you are my next stylish peep”. Most importantly, like his BFF Hayoner he is a ray of positive energy; friendly, fun, smiley… which makes him even cooler.
What’s your name? Robin Castro, aka DJ Robcast.
What do you do? I am a commercial club DJ.
How long have you been a DJ? Officially 4 years now. I used to DJ back in High School too….
Where do you DJ? Phebe nightclub on Newark ave. I DJ once or twice a week. Jersey City right now doesn’t have a lot of clubs.
What song right now gets the crowd going? Right now would be Rihanna’s “Bitch better have my money”. Right now I do more hip hop clubs.
What do you love about DJ’ing? The feeling that I am making people dance and happy…bringing them back to those memories when they first heard that song.
You are a happy person! I try to be!
Do you get annoyed when people ask you for a song request? Not if they give me one. Sometimes when I give them one, they take advantage and they want to keep asking for more.
What are you listening to now? The Major Lazer featuring DJ Snake… it’s a dope track.
Do you dance when you are DJ’ing? Yeah of course!
What are you wearing? American Stitching, Unlimited, Peace NYC, Jordan Craig jacket and a Jersey Player Snap back which I got on Sneaker Room on Central Ave.
How would you define your fashion style? A lot of black. It’s “trill” fashion. Joggers, long line shirts, zippers…
Do you have a favorite JC hangout spot? Mostly Phebe nightclub and the Sneaker Room.
What are your future plans? Trying to get into Porta, and bring Jersey City good vibes. Spread positive energy…. I would love to get on a radio station. Get more bookings nationwide!
