We recently received a message from a woman who sent us a copy of her email to Mayor Fulop. We felt a great portion of her letter was important to share, especially considering Trump’s recent decision to rescind DACA.
My name is -redacted-. I have been a Jersey City resident for about 20+ years. I am 27 years old, I am an HCCC alumni. With the dream of pursing in my Culinary Career. I am also a mother of two U.S. Citizens boys ages 8 and 4. Who need their mother by their said to guide them in the right path. I am also a business partner of an LED lighting distributor company. Who like many finds the means necessary to provide for their family. I was born in Mexico and was brought to the U.S. at the age of 6 months. Left and came back at the age of 3. And since then I had never seen my family or my native country till January of 2017. Due to the painful passing of a family member. I am a DACA recipient. That if it wasn’t for DACA I wouldn’t have never been able to see my family in a moment of need and despair. And if it wasn’t for DACA, I couldn’t work or even go to school without the fear of never making it back home. The same fear that I face now with President Trump ending the program.
She is calling on anybody in JC with a platform to help bring awareness to the fear and issues behind DACA being revoked.
