This is extremely hard to choose from, I have so many faves! I love the cocktails at the Archer. For food, I have to be loyal to my former workplace, Oralé! 3. I come from a family of big families. My dad is an Italian immigrant from Calabria, and is one of 11 kids (I have at least 40 first cousins on that side!), my mom is one of 5 (17 grandkids on that side), and I’m the oldest of 6! We’re doing the Irish-Italian Catholic stereotype proud.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done or wanted to do?
I think the craziest thing I’ve done is move to Chile in college by myself. I had been working on my Spanish like crazy. My college, Northeastern, has an international work-program, but my job fell through at the last minute. I didn’t tell my school. 5 days before I left, I found a 1 month language school that included a host-family, and went anyway. When I got there, I got an unpaid job through a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend .. at Harvard (!!!), found a furnished apartment through my coworker, and had a freaking incredible 6 months living abroad speaking Spanish every day! It was so risky, and soooo worth it!
What do you love most about Jersey City?
I am a passionate Jersey Cityan. I’ve convinced multiple friends to move here because of the personality and culture here! We have incredible diversity, very walkable areas, poppin’ bars and restaurants, and a pretty unbeatable commute to the city. It’s also such a great value. I wouldn’t have been able to move to “NYC” without Jersey City to welcome me with open arms.
