You’re probably wondering, “Is the hype even worth it?” I’m here to tell you, YES! It’s so worth it! The new iPic Theaters Hudson Lights in Fort Lee, NJ a 30 minute drive from Jersey City, transforms your usual “dinner and a movie” into an experience that is beyond luxurious. Check out these five reasons why you NEED to make iPic Theater your next spot for a night out that you won’t forget:
1. The ambiance – If I had to describe iPic in three words, it would be romantic, sexy, and luxurious. The overall look is alluring and impressive, with large dangling chandeliers that light up the grand staircase and modern artwork by local and acclaimed artists that decorate the walls. Inside the theater, fresh pillows and blankets accompany each reclining seat. There’s no bad seat in the house, and the pods are so intimate that it feels like you are at your own private screening.
2. The food – Food Network Star Chef Sherry Yard has teamed up with iPic to create a specially curated menu of finger foods that are perfect for sharing (and eating in total darkness). Some favorites to taste: the Angus Burger trio (comes with bacon, yum!), Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Spicy Maple Bacon Syrup, the Margherita Pizza (it’s super cheesy), and Sweet Potato Fries.
3. There’s cocktails, beer, and wine! – The bar at iPic Hudson Lights is particularly unique because Executive Bartender Adam R. Seger creates specialty drinks based on seasonal New Jersey farmers markets. The beers are also all local! Gotta love it!
4. The popcorn is UNLIMITED! – Seriously, though, free popcorn and refills all night!? The popcorn is served fresh and hot with the option to choose from traditional movie theater style (all the butter you could ask for) or a variety of gourmet flavors and seasonings (caramel anyone?). Did I mention it’s unlimited? Yum!!
5. City Perch Restaurant – Not everyone likes to have their meal and their movie too, and that’s totally fine. Food can get distracting, I know! Grab some refreshments for the theater and hit up City Perch Restaurant before or after your movie, it’s up to you! You can even make a reservation! If you have a sweet-tooth like myself, check it out after the movie for some yummy desserts! The Toffee Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich is my fav!
One last thing, I love, and I’m all for being spontaneous, but a night at the iPic is not meant for last minute plans. Here are a few things to prepare for:
Book early – All reservations are made online, and you’ll want to book at least 3-7 days in advance, especially for new movies and/or popular evening and weekend showing times.
Plan to spend money! – I’ll admit it’s not cheap, but the experience is worth it. Two Premium Plus Tickets total at $52 and the food/drink menu ranges from $9-25 an item.
Arrive Early! – iPic is approximately a 45-minute drive from the Grove Street PATH Station, but there can be A LOT of traffic during the evenings and weekends. Allow yourself an extra 20-30 minutes travel time.
Book “Premium Plus” – For the ultimate in-theater dining experience, you’ll want to book “Premium Plus” seats. “Premium” seats do not include food and beverage service, and the seats do not recline.
So grab your bae (or your BFF!) and shake up your usual Netflix & Chill for a lavish experience that will make you feel like you never left home. Treat yourself! It’s SO worth it!
