Last Tuesday I attended the annual HDSID Board Meeting in City Hall. Every year the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District holds an annual meeting where they talk about topics and issues going on in the Downtown District as well as go over news, events, plans and more.
Steven Kalcanides owner of Helen’s Pizza, is the President of the HDSID and he led the meeting.
The HDSID annual board meeting is really important, especially to small businesses located in the HDSID district. That is why this meeting is open to any current or future business owners interested in hearing more about what’s going on in the neighborhood.
So what did they talk about?! Everything and anything! They talked about the Street Fair, garbage removal, ribbon cuttings, new businesses in the district and more.
A notable topic was the expansion of the HDSID boundaries which becomes official in July. There is a map on their website as well as cute banners which they placed throughout the downtown showing the new areas!! How exciting!
Another exciting fact is the HDSID Farmer’s market that just kicked off less than a month ago is doing EXTREMELY well and the vendors are making dough. This makes me so happy!! These small business owners deserve it.
After the meeting ended it was time to give the Awards out to individuals and businesses which have shown great support to the HDSID and its mission over the years. This year this includes Wayne and Erin Burton of Downtown Community Church, Paul and Eric Silverman of SILVERMAN, Bob Yontef of KRE Group and JCPD Officer Thomas Revell.
Steven and Rachel (Executive Director of the HDSID and my bff) gave out the awards and they all come up to say their thank you’s and expressed appreciation towards everything the HDSID does for the community.
HDSID ROCKS!
