Covid-19 has claimed a lot of things this year, but we won’t let it claim Halloween too! We’re fighting back by still getting in the spooky spirit and enjoying some Covid-friendly Halloween festivities. Here are 7 ways to celebrate Halloween at home this year.
Put your treats in individual grab bags
With social distancing at the forefront of everyone’s minds, making individual candy grab bags is a great alternative to your typical communal candy bowls. Simply make your grab bags and put them on a table at the front of your driveway. Stand at a safe distance and wave to the little ones as they come by for trick-or-treating!
Carve Jack-o’-lanterns and make pumpkin pie
A great way to get in the Halloween spirit is to carve pumpkins and make pumpkin pie with the puree. Have a contest for the scariest Jack-o’-lantern then light them up with candles and stick them outside on the porch to spread some holiday cheer.
Have a spooky Halloween movie marathon
If you feel more comfortable staying in, a Halloween movie marathon is always a fun way to get into the supernatural mindset. From Halloweentown to Ghostbusters there’s no shortage of spooky films to get your Halloween movie marathon started!
Go hard on the decorations
What better way to inspire the Halloween spirit than to bust out all your eeriest decorations. Spider webs on the walls, fog machines in the yard, spooky lights, scarecrows, Jack-o’-lanterns, the works! Just because Halloween will look a little different this year doesn’t mean it has to be any less festive!
“Ghost” your neighbors
This fun take on ding-dong-ditching consists of leaving cute little packages filled with Halloween candies and treats on your neighbors’ doorsteps and running away before they can find out who left it! Don’t forget to leave a mysterious note letting your target know that now it’s their turn to ghost three of their neighbors and friends, too!
Have an indoor Halloween candy scavenger hunt for your kids
If your kids are bummed they’ll be missing out on traditional trick-or-treating, bring it indoors with a festive candy scavenger hunt! Hide candy throughout the house and turn off the lights while your kids scramble around looking for some tasty treasure!
Make Halloween-themed cocktails and have a virtual cocktail party
A great way for a safe, socially-distanced Halloween celebration, whip up your favorite Halloween-themed drinks and host a Zoom cocktail party with friends! From poison apple cocktails to black magic margaritas, these are sure to spice up your Halloween festivities!
