There’s no time like the present to start saving money! Especially in these tricky times it’s important to start establishing healthy budget habits. Check out these 5 easy ways to save money this week!
- Buy less coffee
Stopping at Starbucks on the way to work is a convenient habit we’re all guilty of. However, saving an extra five bucks every day by making a quick cup of coffee at home will really start to add up! Even if you only make coffee at home three days a week and buy it the other two, your bank account will thank you.
- Cook instead of ordering in
This one’s the most classic (and highly effective) way to save money. You’ve got a fridge full of groceries, so before you order in for the third time this week, just remember to tell yourself, WE HAVE FOOD AT HOME! This is also applicable for going out to eat. Try to limit yourself to just eating out on the weekends, if at all.
- Take public transit instead of taxis
Instead of paying for an overpriced Uber ride, consider walking, riding your bike, or taking public transportation to your destination. You’ll be surprised how much money you end up saving just on transportation costs alone!
- Attend free events
Now is a great time to get outside and attend some fun free events, especially while the weather is still warm! Head to a free movie in the park or a free outdoor concert rather than paying to rent a movie at home or going out to dinner and expensive events.
- Only carry cash
Using cash instead of a credit or debit card makes you much more conscious of the money you’re spending. Give yourself a daily budget and carry that amount in cash. Once the money’s gone, you’re done spending for the day!
