The vaccine has made its introduction locally within the past month, prompting residents to wonder when they can get the vaccine or if they should get it at all. Whether you’re confused or just want to know what your options are, here’s what we know about the vaccine in Hudson County.
The state has a dedicated vaccination page.
As we go through the phased process, residents can pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine on covid19.nj.gov/vaccine. Residents can also learn more about the vaccine – what’s in it, how it works, and the trials behind it – as well as where to get the vaccine in the state.
There are two doses involved in the process.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is administered in two doses 21 days apart.
The Moderna vaccine is administered in two doses 28 days apart.
It’s also important to note that the vaccines do not use the live virus that causes COVID-19, won’t cause you to test positive, and will not alter your DNA.
Healthcare workers are a priority.
75 percent of the COVID-19 vaccines supplied by the state has already administered. The Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center in Kearny is expected to get two shipments of the Moderna vaccine soon, with priority going to healthcare workers.
There current phases for vaccinating residents are as follows–
Phase 1A — Healthcare workers and long-term care facilities
Phase 1B — Other essential workers
Phase 1C — Adults 65 and over and those with underlying medical conditions
Phase 2 — General public
