The County-Run Site Will Be Open For A Fourth Day This Week After Receiving Increased Vaccine Allocation
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Hudson County will be opening its vaccine scheduling system at 6 p.m. on Tuesday for appointments at the USS Juneau Center on Thursday and Friday of this week, with a handful of slots currently available for Wednesday. More than 4,000 vaccines will be administered at the county-run site through the end of this week. Appointments will be available starting this evening for the remainder of the week and all eligible residents are encouraged to visit hudsoncovidvax.org to begin the registration process. This week, Hudson County received its largest allocations of vaccine to date with over 20,000 doses being directed to the County and its municipal partners by state and federal officials. Because of the increase in supply, the county-run site at the USS Juneau Center is vaccinating residents on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week.
“Hudson County has worked tirelessly to keep our residents safe and healthy since day one of this pandemic,” said Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise. “The past year has been difficult for each of us, but the COVID-19 vaccine roll out and a steady increase of availability is finally helping us turn a corner. My message to residents is simple: trust the science and do your part to help us put an end to this pandemic. The best vaccine out there is the one available to you and I and encourage everyone to get vaccinated when they are eligible.”
Those currently eligible to be vaccinated according to the state’s guidelines include: healthcare personnel, long term care residents and staff, first responders, anyone 55+, individuals ages 16-54 with underlying health conditions, educators, childcare workers, transportation workers, public safety workers, migrant farm workers, members of tribal communities, those experiencing homelessness, clergy, communications workers, IT professionals, members of the media, election personnel, hospitality workers, retail finance employees, real estate workers, shipping service workers, social service employees, utilities workers, warehouse workers and more.
