As I sit here reflecting on the journey that led me to this moment, the realization of a dream is palpable. Nearly a year ago, following the success of ChicpeaJC Turns 2, I found myself pondering late into the night, grappling with the question of what comes next. While others might have reveled in the triumph of their event, I was consumed by thoughts of the future direction of the blog and its potential impact on the community. This introspective moment catalyzed a profound desire within me to effect positive change in Jersey City, to make a meaningful difference in the lives of its residents.

During a much-needed retreat, with only the serene backdrop of the beach and the company of a notepad and pen, inspiration struck. Reflecting on the connections I’ve forged and the businesses I’ve encountered throughout my blogging journey, I couldn’t shake the awareness of the challenges faced by small enterprises in Jersey City. Many lack the resources for effective marketing and content creation, while others struggle to navigate the complexities of social media management. Moreover, I couldn’t ignore the untapped potential residing within the city’s youth, brimming with creativity yet hindered by barriers to access and support.
Out of these musings emerged the vision for Content Creators Academy—a mentorship program tailored to empower young individuals interested in digital media and content creation. But what exactly is a content creator? Simply put, they are individuals who harness various forms of media, particularly digital, to express themselves and engage with audiences. Our aim is to nurture this creative spirit, providing the tools and guidance necessary for youth to cultivate their passions.
Today, after months of dedicated effort, I am thrilled to announce the fruition of this vision. Content Creators Academy Jersey City (CCAJC) stands as a beacon of opportunity for youth aged 14 to 17, offering mentorship in digital media and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.
Operating as an after-school program from 3 PM to 6 PM, Monday through Thursday, CCAJC boasts a carefully crafted curriculum overseen by a qualified instructor. Class sizes are intentionally kept small to ensure personalized attention, with students meeting twice a week to delve into various aspects of digital media and communication. Upon completion of the program, students will not only possess newfound skills but also an invaluable network of support.
Yet CCAJC is more than just an educational initiative—it’s a community-driven endeavor aimed at uplifting Jersey City’s small businesses. Partnering with local enterprises lacking the financial means for traditional marketing, our students and mentors will collaborate to create compelling content and provide social media guidance. Through this symbiotic relationship, we hope to foster economic growth and innovation within the community.
As we prepare for our official launch at ChicpeaJC Turns 3 on May 13th, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed to this endeavor. From the designers and videographers who brought our vision to life, to the dedicated individuals who will serve on our board, your support has been instrumental.
I invite you to join us in celebrating the vibrancy of Jersey City and the promise of its creative youth. Together, let’s embark on this next chapter of growth and empowerment.
In honor of CCAJC, the theme of the event will be “Creative Youth of Jersey City.” There will be a fashion show, performances, a silent auction, and more, featuring local creatives all under 25. The venue will be separated into Jersey City streets with areas for food, shopping, art, Jersey City landmarks, and many more surprises. Eat local from various food vendors selling small bites (all under $5)!
I hope to see all you beautiful people there to celebrate the wonderful things about Jersey City, and the next chapter for ChicpeaJC.
