1. Cellar335
335 Newark Ave
I’ve been here four times since the Cellar opened. This has easily become my favorite date night spots. We love sharing the drinks that are made for 2 like the “Pele’s Awa” . The bites are perfect for sharing, which makes for an extra romantic experience, and the ambiance is sexy. Cellar 335 is definitely my personal favorite date night spot, whether you’ve been together forever or on your first date (maybe more like a third date).
Order this: Pele’s Awa and crack fries.
2. Madame Claude Bis
390 4th Street
Madame Claude Bis recently moved to a new location, in the basement of White Eagle Hall (which is coincidentally next to Cellar 335). This French bistro is super cute and a perfect place to share a nice bottle of wine. Pro-tip: go on a Thursday night to see band Manouche Bag play live, it’s a treat!
Order this: steak frites and escargot.
3. Laico’s
67 Terhune Ave
Laico’s opened in 1972 and has been around for decades. Located in Greenville, tucked in a residential street, it has an old school Italian feel to it with fresh and delicious food. Laico’s is a super cute spot, especially for a comforting Italian meal. On your right, you’ll see a new couple. On your left, you’ll see a couple who’ve been together for 50 years. It’s super cute, especially on a weekend.
Order this: Paglia e Fieno with Shrimp and Scallops in a Vodka Cream Sauce and bottle of red wine
4. Satis
212 Washington St
Satis is a nice mediterranean restaurant located in Paulus Hook in Downtown JC. Brunch here is amazing! It’s a super cozy date spot for the morning after.
Order this: cheese and charcuterie plate to share and Braised Heirloom Carrot Tagine
5. Renato’s
278 Central Ave
When you walk into Renato’s, it’s like you’re walking into a pizza place, but the restaurant is toward the back. Very Goodfellas. When you’re here, you feel like you’re in an old gangster film! The staff is super-friendly. Comfort food makes for a really great date! #comfortfoodandchill
Order this: Penne a la vodka
6. Battello
502 Washington Blvd
One word: views. You can’t beat having a romantic dinner on the waterfront. This is a great spot if you’re looking for a fancy dinner, especially if you’re in the dog house. They have a great cocktail menu and the food is always on point!
Order this: black sea bass and the ricotta gnocchi
7. Edward’s Steakhouse
239 Marin Blvd
A classic spot. It’s a traditional steakhouse, very cozy, sexy. A great place to eat if you want to get close to your date.
Order: Dry Aged Porterhouse for two
8. Third and Vine
353 3rd St
Third and Vine have great drinks, cheeses, charcuterie, and an awesome selection of drinks. It’s very lowkey. You can wear what you’d like and it’s never crazy packed. It’s definitely underrated!
Order this: Deviled eggs and ask your server for their drink specials
9. Dullboy
364 Grove St
A sexy speakeasy bar in Downtown JC. It’s not really a sit-down dinner. Grab a cozy spot or booth. order from the sexy cocktail menu, and whisper sweet nothings into each other’s ear. Go on a Wednesday – Stadium Status is the DJ of the night. Bring a vinyl record and get a free shot! Music is always on point on Wednesdays.
Order this: the gimlet and some oysters (fun fact: oysters are actually an aphrodisiac…you’re welcome)
10. The Archer
176 Newark Ave
If you want to feel like you’re in a rustic cabin in the Catskills, go to The Archer. The bites are delicious and great for sharing. All cocktails are on point. The food is very different here, but super delicious!
Order this: the elk meatball sliders or the duck poutine
