This post is long overdue. To be honest, I wrote this for myself, as I needed a handy list of spots to go to when I have wine and beer at home. As much as I love going to a restaurant and ordering a fancy cocktail or a bottle of wine, sometimes it gets a little pricey and other times, I just want that free bottle of wine we got for Hannukah…
Anyway, enough of me, let’s get right into it, shall we? Here are 10 spots to try this weekend in Jersey City that are BYO! Let’s get lit.
527 Jersey Ave
This place is definitely a personal favorite! I discovered it when Elena, the owner, invited us for an incredible lunch. The pasta is so fresh and made in-house! This is definitely a must try, can’t believe it’s BYO.
2. Broa
297 Grove St
Broa is a Portuguese tapas-style eatery located right on Grove Street. The food is f-ing amazing. Chef Mike literally gets all the ingredients and makes his dishes every week based on what is available and in season, which means the menu is constantly changing. What I love most about this spot is that it’s very relaxed, they don’t rush you out. The waiters and staff are super knowledgeable! You can enjoy a bottle (or three), eat slowly, and really enjoy your food. It’s all about the experience.
3. Just Beclaws
280 1st Street
I am a huge seafood fan, so when Just Beclaws opened, we were in there! Add on BYOB to the never-ending seafood menu items and you’re sure to have an amazing night out. Nothing is more romantic then eating food with your hands while wearing a bib and drinking beer. If your girl/guy is down for that, you’ve got yourself a winner. #relationshipgoals
4. 15 Fox Place
15 Fox Place
This is more than your standard restaurant – it’s like you’re eating a grand meal at home. Giving itself the title of a dining club, 15 Fox Place gives you an intimate experience as you try their six-course Italian feast. But be sure to get your reservations because it’s not open to the general public!
5. Abbondanza
257 Grand Street
Sometimes all you want is a good ol’ Italian, stuff yourself kind of dinner. Abbondanza is a family favorite, very kid-friendly, and the food will satisfy everyone. The portions are pretty insane!!
6. Rumi
60 Sussex St
A personal favorite! I love Rumi too much. Their hummus is delicious, their wraps are super filling, and I always order the whole fish. BYOB for the win!
7. Blue Lotus
131 Erie St
We had to add some Indian food in the mix because, to be honest, I am craving it right now – that and a bottle of Malbec. Blue Lotus is located by Hamilton Park and is a cute family friendly spot!
8. Noodlefan
514 Central Ave
The best Thai food in JC is in the Heights. I love Noodlefan! It’s a great, no-frills place and super affordable.
9. Dolma
270 Grand Street
Dolma is so delicious! This mediterranean eatery has outdoor seating and the food is outstanding. The owner is also very nice and helpful. My favorite dish on the menu is the lamb chops and the octopus salad.
456 Central Ave
Two words: Tacos and Beer.
