Do you like tacos as much as we do?! Here at ChicpeaJC, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be starting a new monthly column named Taco Tuesdays! Every last Tuesday of the month, we’ll be venturing and finding you the best places to get tacos in Jersey City. We’ll also be highlighting the ones you need to try right now! Grab a friend or go alone, but just make sure you go. First up – we stopped over at Mi Mariachi in the Journal Square neighborhood!

Mi Mariachi is located at 213 Sip Ave in Jersey City just a short walk from the Journal Square PATH station. Oh, and need I mention the tacos are AMAZING! This restaurant is super generous with their portion sizes and the best part about Mi Mariachi is the pricing!

For $10, you can walk out of here with 4 tacos so packed you can barely close them plus a soda!  Tacos are priced at 2 for $4 and 4 for $8, a steal in comparison to other locations. We’ve got your back on which 5 you need to try.

First plate, left to right: Logniza (chorizo, or Mexican sausage) and pollo asado (grilled chicken).

Second plate, bottom up: Al pastor (marinated pork), hearty taco (a combination of several meats) and Carne Asada (grilled beef or steak).

Each order of tacos is served with house made tomatillo salsa and house made hot salsa. If you like spicy food, try the hot one for a real added kick! I’m a wimp so I went for the green.

And did we mention they have almost every flavor of Jarritos available, as well as Mexican coca cola? Drool.

Mi Mariachi opened its doors 5 years go and have been serving much more than tacos on the menu. They offer pan Mexicano (Mexican bread), quesadillas, guacamole, burritos, and even serve up breakfast sandwiches. Hours of operation are M – F 9am to 10:30 pm, Sat and Sun 10 am to 10:30 pm, and they also deliver free of charge! The only downside I found to Mi Mariachi is that they are not vegan/vegetarian friendly with their menu items. However, if this is not an issue, please stop by and tell them their friends at ChicpeaJC sent you!
