South House is a “southern” style new restaurant on Newark Ave that’s been open for a few weeks. They had their official grand opening this past Thursday with Mayor Steven Fulop. I haven’t been there yet so I took the opportunity to check it out and also get a cocktail while I was at it. Yes I do mix business and pleasure.

First of all, I have a major interior design crush on this restaurant. I absolutely love what they did with decor, it’s probably the most aesthetically pleasing place I’ve seen in a while.

I sat at the bar and beverage director, Norman James made me a few cocktails to try out and they were all outstanding!

Also I would like to mention, each and every bartender and waiter here is extremely attractive! #eyecandy

By the time the Mayor came to cut the ribbon around I was already a little “loopy” and ready to party.

Mayor “I see chicpea everywhere”

Me “I’m just here for the drinks”

Good times. Well it didn’t end there! I was invited to come back for their grand opening party that evening, so as soon as mini-chicpea was tucked in bed, I gave my hubby a kiss, called up bff Kyra and back we were at South House (for one drink, I was in bed by 9pm)

That night was their first night with live music! A blues band was performing and they were amazing! I did not feel like we were in Jersey City.

Bossman David informed me free live music would be a weekly thing! Excited to see what’s in store for this new hangout spot.
