I am Israeli, and my nickname is “Chicpea” so when it comes to writing about a Falafel place I can be extremely biased. I’ve eaten at the best middle eastern restaurants in the world, and I happen to make the best home made hummus (recipe here!) you will ever taste and I stand by it! That being said, Ibby’s is my shit. For a cute spot in JC they make great falafel, shawarma and all the yummy salads you can ask for.
Rachel, lady boss of the HDSID and partner in crime Alicia (we call her Lish) joined me for lunch at Ibbys. We basically ordered half the menu and shared it family style.
We got Falafel balls (obviously), hummus, babaghanoush, some salads…. basically a shit ton of food and the bill was less than 35$.
This place is right on Grove, its no frills. You go there to eat, grunt a little and then off you go… Sometimes when I am there I feel like I am back in Israel, so the fact that it makes me feel like that means this place is my shit.
The owner was there at the time, super nice guy, really smiley and accommodating. What I love about Ibby’s its a yummy healthy lunch, you don’t feel too bad about yourself after and it’s extremely veggie friendly (just omit the shawarma haha).
The only thing I regret, was not ordering the dessert… Baklava! Look at that!! yummy
Thanks to the ladies at HDSID for being awesome and joining me for lunch. What’s our next spot?!
