Mayor Fulop recently shared that the city is taking steps toward a Healthier Corner Store initiative! Eating healthy can be issue, especially when underserved areas do not get the same resources provided to the more privileged neighborhoods. As a part of this initiative, the city is hoping to provide healthy and affordable food options to underserved neighborhoods. They recently opened the second “Healthy Corner Store” at Denisse Supermarket on Ocean Ave.
They’ll be partnering with local corner stores to re-organize stores in a way that showcases healthy food options. The ultimate goal is to help residents be healthy and live long by at least providing a the fresh and healthy foods that people deserve. We can hope this continues throughout the city and encourages everyone to incorporate fresh foods to their everyday lifestyles.
