Monday’s kind of suck for everyone, especially for a working mom like myself. You all heard about my hectic mornings…. Then after the day is over, back home, hang out with kid and figure out what the hell I should make for dinner….
Last Monday we decided to go to Bistro La Source for their All you can eat Mussels special! I was ecstatic! it meant no cooking for me!
Family Friendly: Definetly! Especially on a Monday night. I’ve been here when Mia was a few weeks old and we sat inside, which was OK but kind of stressful so I wouldn’t recommend it. During the summer and at an earlier hour where you can sit outside is perfect. Bring your five kids if you must! They have high chairs and are very accommodating for the youngsters.
Vibes: Two words : Al Fresca. There is nothing like eating a relaxed dinner outside on a beautiful day. It was super relaxing… well as relaxing as it can get eating dinner with a 21 month old!
Special stuff: Monday night is all you can eat Mussles. Which to my knowledge is a pretty darn good deal. Why not have a fancy meal on a Monday night? Add a cold beer to that and now you are living it up! F U Monday!
Food Options for Vegetarians/Vegans: They have an awesome vegetarian morrocain couscous dish with beets, a tomato salad, sautéed spinach and of course a Chickpea salad!!
The Mussels: I confess. I ordered mussels. I haven’t been a good “vegan” lately. I couldn’t resist! Anyway, they where delicious!!! I ordered the Provencale mussels and to even it out a side of a Chickpea salad! I love those little cute suckers.
TIP: Everyone coming on Monday is most likely ordering mussels, and a shit ton of them. If you want to get your second round fairly quickly you should order the next one as soon as you get your first order. Or else it’s kind of a long wait…. Which is cool if you are alone with other adults drinking and having a good conversation…. not so cool when you are with a toddler losing their patience. I resulted in giving little Mia lemons to eat for entertainment purposes… which I highly recommend! Funniest shit ever!!
Service: Our host Caley Vickerman was the most adorable thing ever. Not only did she have a cute outfit but she was super sweet and attentive. I felt like I was in her home and she was hosting us! Loved her!
If you find yourself looking at the fridge on a Monday night wondering what to make… go to Bistro La Source! order some mussels and get a beer. It’s going to be a long ass week.
