There are always new spots opening in Jersey City these days, and we love hearing about these new hot spots in the area. Let us know if you’ve been to any of these restaurants, or if you’re looking forward to visiting when they open!
Opening Soon
FM – 340 Third St.
The concept behind FM seemed so interesting to me when I first heard about it, and I can’t wait to check it out when it opens! FM will have a 70s feel, with decor and music reflective of the 1970s. They describe their menu as “70s comfort food with a twist,” and I can only hope it’s as good as it sounds. Their ribbon cutting is on April 20th, so expect to make a visit soon!
Lutze Biergarten – 15 Second St.
On May 5th (yes, Cinco de Mayo), join Mack-Cali for the grand opening of the area’s first outdoor beer garden – Lutze Biergarten! There’ll be a street fair and you’ll get to experience the quality of Lutze Biergarten. Lutze is expected to have a variety of craft beers, cocktails, and German food available. With an amazing view, I’m sure this is going to be the go-to spot for most people during the summer nights.
Ani Ramen – 218 Newark Ave.
Ani Ramen is expected to open on April 24th! There’ll be a full bar featuring a beverage program created with mixologist Kenta Goto and murals by artist Rich Tu, similar to their location in Montclair. From what I’ve heard, everything they offer is delicious!
Choc O Pain Bakery & Cafe – 330 Palisade Ave.
Another location is opening up for the amazing cafe, now in the Heights! It’s expected to open May 2017, so get ready for some delicious pastries and a nice cup of coffee to start your mornings.
Recently Opened
El Gordo – 291 Central Ave.
As Peruvians, my family is all about the basics – Pollo a la Brasa, Papa a la Huancaína, Ceviche, and Chaufa. I told them about El Gordo when they first opened up and a visit is in the works! They have locations in Passaic County and decided to bring it to Jersey City, and all I’ve heard are the best reviews.
Sol Azteca – 239 Barrow St.
Our very own Chicpea is a huge fan of Sol Azteca and it has quickly become her top spot for Mexican food. Since opening, this has been a popular restaurant for classically delicious dishes, like tacos and chilaquiles.
El Cocotero – 749 Bergen Ave.
A genuine Venezuelan spot, El Cocotero is becoming a local favorite. You can order anything from hallaca to tequeños, and you’re guaranteed to love your meal!
Alcides
El Gordo Ceviche is the truth!
