A reminder: Cinco de Mayo is the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, often celebrated in the US and in parts of Mexico as a victory over France’s occupation of Puebla in 1862. It’s not their Independence Day. If you’re going to celebrate this holiday with drinks and food, consider supporting authentic Mexican restaurants.
We’ve highlighted several authentic taco spots recently (alongside other local spots), but here are a few taco trucks to check out in New Jersey!
Torta Truck
Torta Truck offers tortas, tacos, and birria with consome in Hudson County. They’re currently in the process of opening a storefront, but you can find their trucks in Union City and Jersey City. Be sure to check their Instagram for their daily locations, and bring cash!
Mexi-Flip
Mexi-Flip offers “Neo-traditional” tacos – Mexican cuisine fused with Filipino flavors. They bring something new to the table while bringing the authentic taco experience to customers. You can find this food truck at seasonal events throughout New Jersey, often shared on Instagram.
La Coqueta
La Coqueta is another great authentic taco truck run by chefs Carla and Aron. Their menu includes traditional flavors for tacos, as well as Asian-fusion dishes like their Ramen Birria. The truck can be found in Jersey City and New York –keep up with their weekly schedule on Instagram.
