Another great event that I wasn’t really planning on covering but had to. Why? Because there is so much going on in Jersey City that is not being documented in the “press” and I feel I have the responsibility to share these amazing nights with my readers.
Vincent, The Owl and I go way back to over a year ago when I interviewed him for a hip hop post. I think he was actually my first rap artist on the blog. I would go check but I am too lazy. I also interviewed Nizz Sentine who is part of the “OWL” gang and super talented. We later shot ChicpeaTV Episode 3: Rapping with Nizz Sentine and Vincent, The Owl. It’s pretty hilarious, probably the funniest episode we ever shot.
These guys are so fun and Vincent is now a hip hop contributor on ChicpeaJC and I couldn’t be more excited. I had to go show my support at his album release party at Seraphim Vape.
Seraphim has been hosting some great events lately, I feel like I practically live there now. They are so awesome for throwing these parties, bringing people together to celebrate music, fashion and culture in Jersey City… all under a massive cloud of “Creme Brûlée” vapes (not a joke, that is an actual vape flavor). I interviewed them a few days ago to get the background on the shop and ask them a bunch of vaping questions so stay tuned for that writeup. It’s going to be LIT (literally).
I arrived with my new friend and photographer Kim to the Album Release party and it was already packed with people and supporters of the “Owl” gang which includes Nizz and PISS MOBB.
I ran into so many friends!! Andy Mac, Marty Strange, Don Prynce, Crazy and The Brains, Charles Bowers and I also met a few new people including this young kid May Blu who insisted on freestyling for me outside the shop. He was crazy talented.
DJ Clockwork who is MAC MILLER’s DJ was there spinning, apparently him and Vinny are friends!! How cool is that?! A huge DJ in the industry supporting his friend in Jersey City. That was beyond awesome, and he played my favorite 90s jams.
The energy of the album release party was amazing! Nizz Sentine performed, then Piss Mobb and then Vinny went on. Everyone was dancing and most people knew all the lyrics by heart. I really love how Jersey City supports it’s own artists. It’s a wonderful thing.
At the end of the night DJ Stadium Status went on the mic to thank everyone for coming. He said some great things about culture in Jersey City, how important it is we support each other and preserve what we have in order to make it nationally and globally! Let’s put JC on the map!! Show some love to your local artists.
I had so much fun. Another great Jersey City night…. I love you.
