Journal Squared hosted yet another fun community event last week!
This month, they had a hands-on creative workshop, teaching residents how to handcraft Valentine’s Day cards for your loved ones. It was held in the Penthouse Sky Lounge, surrounded by the jaw-dropping panoramic views of Jersey City and New York City.
This event was hosted by the very talented Katie Perez, illustrator and founder of Katie Pea Studio. Katie is an illustrator who focuses on fun and creative greeting cards. She was a perfect host for the event. Her bubbly personality and well-taught demonstrations got the group in the mood for some creative fun.
Katie started with a few demonstrations to get the creative juices flowing. She is one talented individual, creating two beautiful cards right before our eyes. Katie explained how to do all the techniques and made it seem very easy and relaxing.
The group of ladies and men were a fun bunch of residents who just wanted to relax and have a nice evening. After Katie showed some of her previously made greeting cards, she opened the floor for everyone to start painting with watercolors, cutting paper into hearts, drawing, and my personal favorite: funny, love puns.
Everyone had a fair share of puns to tell the group thanks to Katie’s cards, which read, “You’re the Hottest” surrounded by chili peppers and another card reading, “You Rock” surrounded by colorful geodes.
All in all, this event was an intimate gathering of fun-loving residents enjoying each other’s company while creating something from the heart.
