PARTY’S HERE!
Last weekend was extremely intense and we are all still in a food coma after Project Eats and the Lucky 7’s BBQ. This weekend list is short and sweet and does not involve food…. ok that is a lie. Anyway, let’s take it easy! Hang with the family at the Village Block Party, go to a live show at the Dopeness or Lucky 7’s and do some local shopping!! Here is this weekends top 5!
1. MOTOMONDAYS PRESENTS: JESSEFEST
Friday 8pm
This event is number one on my list, for two reasons. This party is to raise funds for Jesse who currently works at my favorite Tattoo shop, Jersey City Tattoos. Jesse was a victim of a hit and run accident and he needs surgery. This party is going to have tons of raffles and prizes to help raise funds to help Jesse!! Second reason, The Scandals will be playing!!!! I am such a fan girl!! Friday nights are family nights, but I might ditch the clan for this one… That being said, a music aficionado is hopefully joining the ChicpeaJC team and will be covering the event!! He is in a punk band himself so this is going to be VERY interesting. #teamchicpeajc
Also, interestingly enough, one of the DJ’s is DJ CHIC PEEZ! and it’s just a coincidence!! Hilarious.
If you can’t make the event, lets help out this cool dude http://www.gofundme.com/xwh9uks
2. Jersey City’s The Dopeness Presents: Devi || Drum and a Tantrum || Deaf Rhino || Big Wake
Friday 8pm
Ever since my interview with Devi, I’ve become a huge fan and they are sure to have a rocking show especially with this lineup!! Deaf Rhino is actually on my list of bands to interview! If you go, keep an eye out for one of ChicpeaJC’s newest contributors!
3. The Artisan and Designers host Grand Opening
The people who graduate from the Rising Tide business program are some of the most talented in Jersey City. As you all know I am a huge promoter of shopping local and supporting local artisans, this Saturday come out for the grand opening of the Artisan and Designers Collective!!
“In the spirit of collaboration, five Rising Tide Entrepreneurs have joined forces to launch the Artisan and Designers Collective, a group of shops featuring hand-made items by local designers. Recognizing that their businesses have a similar target market, artisans Angela Huggins, Kimberly Sumpter, Aissatou Ndiaye, Gwendolyn Green and Stacey Hyatt-Dixon have pooled their resources to co-market and cross promote each other’s businesses.
To launch their shops and boutiques located within the Hewn Arts Center on 140 Sip Avenue in Jersey City, The Collective will host their grand opening on July 25 and 26 from 11am-7pm. In celebration of the launch, all of the businesses will run sales and specials offering discounts for shopping with more than one Collective store” http://risingtidecapital.org/index.php/component/content/article?id=761
4. The Village Block Party
YESSSS. I love block parties, and this should be fun for everyone!! Live art, live music, booze, eats, shopping, kid activities. I am bringing the clan and a tent and setting up shop for the day. A chicpeajc contributor will be covering this and I for once will just sit back take in the moments and the fun. YAY.
Also very important to mention, June and the Pushas will be performing at this block party!! You must check them out.

5. Dinner in the Park
Sunday 5-9pm
Feed JC and The JC Park’s Coalition Present:Dinner in the Park – Market Dinner Series. Benefiting the Homeless and expanding JC’s food access.
Feed JC is an incredible organization founded by one of my dear friends and local chefs David Trotta from Whealth and Alex Sartoga from Andy’s Kitchen. Last Christmas I had volunteered to be part of their street team, and gave away bags of clothing to those in need. It is an incredible organization that are really making a difference in the Jersey City community.
“On July 26th at 5pm in Lincoln Park Jersey City, Feed JC in Partnership with the The Jersey City Parks Coalition expands upon what it means to “Feed JC” with the kick off event to their “Dinner in the Park” series. A dinner series highlighting the produce from each of Jersey City’s Farmers Markets in each of it’s 6 Wards. The dinners to be served and prepared by students going through a Leadership and Hospitality training program, that offers mentorship, hands on job training and job placement for Jersey City Youth run by Feed JC founders. Each dinner will highlight a Ward family, their food and their story ”
