I am feeling very nostalgic, this weekend it will be a year since my first ever “weekend roundup” post. I think it was actually what cemented this whole blogging experience for me. I covered so many events I felt like my head would spin… I remember being so exhausted at the end of the weekend that I passed out as soon as my head hit my pillow… but, I had a huge smile on my face! The best part is I covered the whole thing using my iPhone!! I’ve come a long way.
This weekend is going to be pretty jammed pack, I highly advise you guys keep things local! Why go outside of Jersey City when there is literally something for everyone!! For a list of all the happenings check out the ChicpeaJC Event Calendar, over 5 events a day get added so keep checking back!
Now I figured since I am working on my own itinerary of things to hit up this weekend, I might as well share it with all my lovely readers. So here it is! Top 5 things to do this weekend!
Friday
1. Art House Productions JC Fridays & Groove on Grove
JC Fridays is a citi-wide event, celebrating the arts in Jersey City. There are locations all over town that are having exhibits, live music, shows, you name it!
Now if you don’t feel like running around Jersey City you can stay put by the Grove Path station pavilion for a special Groove on Grove! There will be live music from so many great bands and the Artist Maker & Market will be there with tons of local vendors selling their goods. This starts off at 1pm, so all you lucky people who get to leave work early on Friday please get there and save me a spot on the faux-grass will ya?! OH, and most importantly there will be eats and booze served at this special Groove on Grove… #turnup
2. Live at the Lumber Yard with Plastiq Passion, Sea of Otters and CKAY & The Professor!
I’ve heard so much about local band Plastiq Passion (I need to interview them) so when I saw this event after it was that submitted to the events calendar, I added it to my list of things to check out this weekend!! I’ve never been to the Lumber Yard, sounds so fun! So if you want to do something a little different this should be a good time and it’s FREE!!
Saturday
3. Brunswick Center Ribbon Cutting
The Brunswick Center is a place dedicated to Wellness and Health and there is something for everyone! It’s like the Wellness Mecca. You have everything from dance studios, to Pilates, spin and even a colonics specialist! They are opening their doors this Saturday for a special event organized by the wonder Jersey Girls Food Tour! There will be demos from all the various fitness studios, there will be healthy eats and drinks from Bone-In, Busy Bee Organics, Whealth , Third and Vine, and 902 Brewing Co. DJ Stadium Status will be spinning some dope beats and there will be giveaways and more! This is a great activity for whole family.
4. The Third Annual Riverview Jazz Festival
I am so excited for this one!! I absolutely love the Riverview Park in the Heights and Jazz in the park sounds like the perfect weekend activity! Keep in mind this is a two day shindig there will be 7 great bands and a Beer Garden under the sun on Saturday on Sunday a Dixieland brunch from 12-3pm! I love the idea of getting dressed up in vintage outfits and enjoying a nice brunch in the park with live music… kind of reminds me of this fashion post I did with Meika from Another Man’s Treasure!
Sunday
5. Bike JC’s 6th Annual Jersey City Ward Tour & Festival
After all the eating and drinking this weekend, get on your bike and tour our fine city! I already did a post about it earlier this week so go check it out! There is still time to sign up. Word on the street is over 1,000 riders will be there! don’t miss out on the fun yo.
