I took a little hiatus from doing event recaps but now since the weather is getting a little warmer and Jersey City weekends are becoming busier and busier I was happy to cover two awesome events last night. Now, I apologize for the quality of photos as I used my iPhone to take pictures because “Rosy” did not fit in my Another Man’s Treasure clutch and well fashion first!
PAFCOM #Tipanan at NJCU School of Business
My first stop was to the “Tipanan” which means gathering at NJCU school of business and organized by the Phillipine American Friendship Committee aka PAFCOM. I was invited by Vanessa Santiago to join this wonderful event celebrating Filipino food and drinks as well as an art exhibit and live music.
The gathering was in the Skyline room at NJCU overlooking the best views, it was a beautiful setting but I was there to get my eat on. I’ve honestly never really eaten Filipino food except for in a JC festival over a year ago and was really excited to try everything. It did not disappoint!
Yum! I ran into a few friends; Councilman Rolando Lavarro and his wifey Veronica and adorable kiddo. My love Marelyn Rivera from Allure Events and Freeholder Anthony Romano who is probably the friendliest politician I’ve ever met.
Wine Tasting to Benefit Art House Productions @JCity Realty
It was time to head over to JCity Realty for the Wine Tasting benefitting Art House Productions which suffered recently from a catastrophic flood. It was great to see so many friendly faces their to support Art House. There was live music, raffles, bites by Whealth JC (so good) and all you can drink wine… I think I might of had a little too much.
I made a few new friends! The hottie mom Michele Sorvino who is the Executive Director of the Golden Door Film Festival and host of Inside Hollywood on the Hudson. LOVE HER.
Shout out to supermom Christine Goodman, Executive Director of Art House for being so positive and inspiring through stressful times. If you would like to donate to the efforts go to http://www.arthouseproductions.org/donate/
The best part of the night was running into ChicpeaJC editor in chief Crystal Davis who I haven’t seen in like a month. She is awesome and without her I would not be able to do all of this.
Another great Jersey City night for the books.
Clothes & Vibes @Seraphim Vape
Bi-coastal hip hop artist and dope chick Jay-Hype organized a clothing drive at Seraphim vape today. I went into my closet, grabbed a bag full of clothes I don’t use, including a pair of hammer pants I was hoping would come back in style (They are pretty dope but just not for me anymore) and headed to the shop.
I caught up with Jay who is working on some new music, and splitting her time between LA and Jersey City. She was also dressed in head to toe Yeezus and Pablo and I had major outfit envy. Those Yeezus boosts tho <3
Jay also let me listen to one of her new songs that isn’t out yet and I while listening I felt like she is on the brink of blowing up. She’s good people and was happy to support her at her event and really excited seeing her do well.
and of course how could I forget the Scully Brothers…. these guys are all over this blog!
