I have to start this post by saying at how humbled I am that people are actually interested in hearing about my journey and what I have to say about my work and how I do it all. Sub-City Junction invited me to take part of their first panel discussion, Redefining entrepreneurship: Navigating through unique career paths without any guides.
“Sub-City Junction focuses on assembling, supporting, and educating Hudson County’s freelancers and entrepreneurs who work within emerging industries. Sub-City Junction plans to facilitate and host various panel discussions, workshops, and pitch events throughout the year that will motivate and assist young entrepreneurs in building and implementing efficient practices into their brands”
When Britney Medich, the Jersey City raised girl boss of Sub-City Junction, reached out to me to be part of this amazing panel, I literally said “Who me?!”.
I was stoked. After doing the “I am Inspired” panel and getting such great feedback and learning so much from my peers I knew this would be a great event.
Right before the panel, I attended Autism NJ’s 50th Anniversary at Battello, I left right at 7:15pm to make it to the panel but with my luck, my UBER driver got lost! Thankfully I made it to the Monroe Center just in time. As soon as I got there I made a beeline to the bar to sip on cocktails provided by Union Republic and ModCup! Delicious.
I realized right before the panel started that I was starving, so I tried Grandma Downtown’s Pumpernickel bread and I always had a NSFW moment… I popped 5 of them in my mouth. Crazy delicious….
DJ Breaknek was there spinning some dope beats, getting the crowd going… he even played one of my favorite jams Boyz 2 Mens “Motownphilly” . I almost started dancing!!

It was showtime! Britney started the panel with an introduction to what Sub City- Junction is and then she did a fun Q&A with Chadner and Marinell, my warehouse cafe office buddies and bosses of the beautiful Eighty Mag.
@Eightymag: “If you want to bootstrap your way to the top, just do it. Cause you cannot be the one who rejects you”
The panel:
Everyone got their turn to talk about what they do and how they make it work. I learned so much from everyone! A few take aways;
Michele Spiezia @Bespokeapp “Everyone has the same idea, it’s what you do with that idea that counts”
Leni Zneimer @wework @lenizneimer “Find people you identify with….someone else making the leap into entrepeneurship with you”
ME! @ChicpeaJC
It was a really inspiring panel, with a group of really passionate entrepreneurs!
After the great panel we did a fun Q&A and someone asked me if I would ever expand to other locations… well the answer….
After this panel I was even more inspired, being around like-minded people makes me want to push even harder and it makes me feel like I have a great support system. Thanks so much SubCity Junction! Looking forward to more events.
