I woke up yesterday with a gnarly hangover, an empty stomach and a full heart.
A few weeks ago, Gus Ruiz owner of street wear brand Villainous New York, reached out and asked me if I would be interested in being a sponsor at a networking/mixer event he was organizing with Society Needs Culture. He told me this party would be all about bringing people in the Jersey City community together for a good time and 90s hip hop. He had me at 90s hip hop. It’s the golden era people!!
The event was held at Club Transmission in the Powerhouse district. I didn’t really know what to expect, but something told me it was going to be a fun night… and it was. It was the best night I’ve had in a while.
I wasn’t planning on doing a recap of this party to be really honest. I wanted to just have a good time without worrying about capturing every moment for the blog. But I couldn’t not write about it, it was such a positive event that it needs to be known to everyone. Photog and friend Andy Mac was there taking pictures, and I walked up to him and said “You are covering this for me now” to which he said “I gotchu”. I love you Andy.
There really was “Nothing but love” at this event. I ran into so many great people and made a few new friends.
By around 11:30 the place was packed and the DJ’s were playing the best 90s hip hop. I got to chop it up with stylish peeps Hayoner and DJ Robcast. I was in heaven….Ok maybe I was also a little tipsy.
Speaking of stylish peeps. This event did not disappoint! Here are some of my favorite looks of the night.
Everyone was having a blast… or as the kids say these days “Turnt”
Shout outs to all the DJ’s who made the night possible.
