I went back to Liberty State Park last weekend to join them for a Kayak Eco Tour! The tour covers the wildlife and habitats of Caven Point right here in Jersey City.
It was my second year doing the tour and I had an absolute blast. The tour runs approximately 2 hours and includes brief safety and paddle instructions. You don’t really need much experience kayaking to do the tour. You also have the option of using a kayak with pedals if you don’t feel comfortable relying on paddling.
It’s the perfect weekend summer activity to do with a friend, a date, or even for a nice solo adventure. I recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes you don’t really like as you will get them wet and muddy! Definitely wear sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses! It gets hot out there.
The LSP tour guides led us across the river to Caven Point where we saw birds, turtles, fish, and enjoyed the amazing views of the NYC skyline and the Statue of Liberty.
It’s a fun and relaxing experience! Definitely a must do activity this summer.
It was only $20 for two hours of kayaking fun. Stop by LSP for your own kayak tour!
Space is limited and pre-registration is require and the program runs from 10AM to 12PM. For more information, you can contact the Liberty State Park Nature Interpretive Center at 201-915-3400 ext. 202 or lspnaturecenter@dep.nj.gov.
