Inspired Artist Movement is a new organization that supports creatives in music and fashion and is run by a phenomenal human, vocalist and girl boss, MJ….who I interviewed on my first day as a full time blogger! She invited me to join a panel of experts to discuss the topic of “How to build a following”. I was so incredibly honored to be included amongst some extremely talented people.
Hayoner, is the Creative Director and Curator of Sneaker Room. He is also my new BFF, and I think the coolest guy I know right now… not to mention crazy stylish!!! His energy is off the chain. He is on his way to mogul status.
Rob Jelinski, the Founder & Creative Director Rob Jelinski Studios. A super talented artist… so much so, I was so bummed when I heard he wasn’t living in Jersey City!!
Akisia Grigsby, Founder, Branding & Media Lead, Akzas Agency. A former Creative Director of VEVO.com, Sean John Branding & Advertising and Bad Boy Entertainment to name a few… she’s worked with some of Hip Hops biggest names! #girlboss
The fact that I was included among these individuals was incredibly humbling!
I arrived at around 6pm, and hung out with Hayoner and his boy DJ Robcast (coming soon on le blog) we chilled, I walked around the vendors and had to really stop myself from buying anything!! DJ Philly Blunt (I need to chill with this dude) was keeping everyones ears happy and playing really dope beats… I might of had my own dance party.
I ate a chickpea muffin from Chilltown Kitchen!! so delicious!!
At around 7ish, it was time to start the show. Before we went up to give our “shpeel” singer/rapper J. Ross Parrelli went up there and did her thing, she was so f-ing cool and amazing. She had everyone joining in and singing. I loved her…. I made a beeline to MJ and said “Please tell me she lives in Jersey City” to which she said… “No”. Heartbroken, I went back to my seat to sulk. J Ross, if you ever move to JC call your girl.
It was show time. I don’t really remember the rest to be honest. I was up since 5:00am yesterday, and was out interviewing people all day that I was kind of delirious. I do remember swearing a lot. But it was cool. I learned so much from my fellow peers, and the information everyone gave was extremely valuable! I know you are probably dying to know what we talked about… but you should of been there! that and there is video circling around.
The people who came to listen to this event where from all over New Jersey and New York with a good amount from Jersey City. There were people in fashion, music and even a local perfume business called “Lady Hustle” which I tried and smelled like bubble gum, so yummy!!
At the end of the panel, we got to mingle and talk to everyone, a few people even went up on the mic to sing and rap which was awesome.
Since you all know I love fashion, there were some serious stylish peeps at this event!
The notable Don Prynce and TTG from the Designer Boyz arrived fashionably late looking fly AF (google it if you don’t know this acronym). They are beyond stylish, and they both gave us a fun performance at the end. These guys are going to be Hip Hop moguls one day, I wonder if the panel helped them?! Can I take credit when they make it or nah?
A special thanks for including me in this fun evening, I am so appreciative of having the opportunity to spread my knowledge and talk about my journey.
