Hudson Montessori is back with their Social Studies Fair and Street Carnival, and the theme this year is Grow Our Cities!
Every year, Hudson Montessori hosts a Social Studies Fair to showcase the work of their students that fit a specific theme. The students immerse themselves in the time periods and cultures of the theme, and families have a chance to walk through the classrooms and view the students’ pieces. Last year, the theme was “Save Our Biomes” and students’ work surrounded the theme of biomes, the environment, and our roles in saving these habitats.
On May 12th from 9AM to 1:30PM, join Hudson Montessori for their Social Studies Fair, a free community event and carnival for children! The “Grow Our Cities” student expo will have an emphasis on sustainability and green infrastructure of cities displayed in the 10, 30, and 50 Regent Street classrooms.
This year, students explored how a city supports human needs: food, clothing, shelter, communication, and transportation. Students looked into the infrastructure of cities around the world (including our very own Jersey City) and looked into what makes each city unique. They learned about the past, how these cities evolved with time, and what the future may bring.
The students are very excited to showcase their work. The children have worked hard, researching how cities came, and visitors will get the chance to go on this journey and compare the first Industrial Revolution to what we are entering now as the “Fourth Industrial Revolution.” Hudson Montessori will also honor the Innovate Team (I-Team) of Jersey City, along with an opening ceremony with Mayor Fulop!
The Social Studies Fair will also include a Street Carnival. There’ll be an outdoor carnival with three bouncy houses and activities for all children to enjoy. Kids can enjoy cupcake decorating, face painting, and arts & crafts stations.
There’ll be performances and demonstrations by Next Step Broadway – The Triple Threats, Melody’s Music Studio- Vocal Soloists, Artists Avenue – Disney Aladdin Kids, Jazz for Kids, and Saanwee Performing Arts. There will also be a dance party for the kids at 12:30PM!
Families can expect delicious bites from local food truck vendors to satisfy their cravings, including Milk Sugar Love, Carmine’s Pizza Factory, Koro Koro, Dosa Spot, Juice Basin, and The Old Spot Hotpot & Grill.
Mark your calendars and join Hudson Montessori for Grow Our Cities!
