Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you probably heard about the State Shutdown after a budget failed to pass by the July 1rst deadline which basically means all state parks are closed including Liberty State Park where the Freedom Fireworks and festival take place.
Mayor Steven Fulop announced that he wasn’t going to wait till Monday (to see if the budget would pass) to make the call to move the event. The Festival will be held at Exchange place this year.
Quick thought: I try not to say anything negative about anyone, but Chris Christie is a bully! and seeing photos of him enjoying a day at the beach with his family while we all scramble to make new plans makes me sick!!!
I feel better now thank you.
Now back to the fun stuff! Festival kicks off a noon. I recommend walking/taking the train etc to avoid the crazy traffic. Downtown JC is going to be a little crazy tomorrow.
JC’s own Kool and the Gang go up at around 8pm and the Fireworks at 9:25pm.
Lutze Biergarten will be open for service! This is where I am going to be because… beer.
If you want to go into Lutze to enjoy the fireworks and festivities: There will be a special 4th of July beer from departed soles and americaRitas. There is a $10 cover that will go to veterans and will be matched by Lutze!
EDIT:
Now for a shameless plug: We are having our second annual Forever Young Festival July 22nd at the Lutze! To stay up to date go to our Facebook page: Forever Young 2017
