Another weekend for books. This month has been nothing but exceptional, from celebrating ChicpeaJCturns2 to the Grand Opening of The Clearport owned by my dear friend and fellow entrepeneur, Haytham aka Hayoner. I am sitting at Short Grain JC double fisting a large cup of coffee and Matcha drink nursing a gnarly hangover writing this recap with a huge smile on my face.
Saturday morning, I headed to the Clearport to help set up for the day. We got Milk Sugar Love to make some amazing treats that fit the airport theme. We also got delicious drinks made by my girl Rachael Robbins who is now embarking on a new business venture: Chickologist.
At around 10am, Mayor Steven Fulop arrived to the store for the ribbon cutting with his camera crew. Haytham gave him a tour of the store and the whole story behind it. He even gave the mayor historical tidbits on McGinley Square… hinting that the city should change the name from McGinley Square to Clearport Square (McGinley was not a JC native and Haytham is!) The Mayor was very impressed. After the tour, it was time to cut the ribbon. It was an honor to have been part of this ribbon cutting and a memory that will forever be a highlight in my blogging career.
The Mayor even posted the photos on his social media! He is so awesome for supporting small JC businesses on a weekend nonetheless.
After the Mayor left, it was time to turn up. DJ Robcast started spinning and getting everyone in a “Lit” mood (the booze also helped).
I spent most of my day at The Clearport and it was a party all day, everyone came out to show love to Haytham and his new endeavor. Good vibes all day.
I left in the afternoon to check out the Central Ave. Auto and Music Car show (post coming soon) and then the SoledOUT Grand Opening (also coming soon) and also managed to take my little one to a kids birthday party at my gym. It was an intense day to say the least!! but the day was only getting started.
It was time to change into my party clothes that I got from The Clearport and head over to Transmission for the After Party.
The rest is a little bit blurry, the combination of exhaustion and a few drinks did me over but it was an incredible night. DJ Stadium Status kicked things off, and the crowd starting arriving at around 11pm, within 20 minutes the place was packed with beautiful people. The love was amazing. Everyone danced and hung out with each other! I literally danced my ass off. DJ Robcast took over and also KILLED it, I told him he officially passed the ChicpeaJC DJ test (whatever that is).
Squad goals.
There were dance offs and moshpits… it was pretty amazing.
At around 1am, it was time for Jay Hype to perform. She is so awesome and her energy was amazing, she had everyone jumping. I am excited to work with her more on future events!!
At 2:30am, there was no sign of the crowd dwindling, everyone was still dancing and having a good time but alas, the night was over. We were spent. It was time to pack up and head home and start thinking about the next time we can all come together again. #staytuned
Shout outs to Hayoner, next stop… around the world.
