To kick off Fourth of July weekend, ChicpeaJC and HayOner threw a silent party at Transmission on July 1st, and it’s all we’ve been talking about since! So much so, we are going for round two July 22nd! Details after the recap!
A year ago, I went to a silent party in Miami and ever since I wanted to bring the experience to Jersey City. We prepared for weeks for the event, and even drove all the way to Queens to pick up 250 headphones. We had three DJ’s handling the different stations; Stadium Status was hip hop on blue, DJ Robcast was throwbacks on red and Kevlove was the mystery channel on green. The whole night they were competing for everyone’s ears. It was amazing.
I can honestly say it was one of the best nights of my life. I never laughed so much! Seeing everyone dance to different songs, and singing off key was quite the sight to see. Imagine the venue is completely silent; you can have a normal conversation with someone by just taking off your headphones. It was wild.
At one point Kevlove put the song “Follow the Leader” and everyone who was on the green channel started a conga line. I laughed so much I had to sit down. It was hysterical. The best was also seeing people dance with strangers! Sharing music is a beautiful thing. At one point, I stood on the stage and watched everyone smile and laugh, and I was so happy. All the hard work of putting this event together was so worth it. The energy was amazing. I guess I throw parties now!

To be honest, I’m not much of a party person. I’m not big on the idea of crowded spaces and listening to music that isn’t my style. But I’ve wanted to go to a headphone party for months, and this was perfect! Whether they bought tickets beforehand or heard the hype from outside of the club, people gathered their way into Transmission to see what everyone was raving about, and it seems like we didn’t disappoint!
Everyone had the option to choose from three stations where different genres of music were played. There was something for everyone: reggae, old school hip-hop, even some 90s rock music made its way to our headphones! The DJs didn’t let us down, and it was almost impossible to choose a favorite station with so many good songs being played through the night.
To fuel the hype of the party, Cholita Paletas’ complimentary boozy popsicles were a hit around the club! It was a nice little treat for everybody to enjoy while jamming out. The party brought the best out of people and allowed everyone to just enjoy themselves. Whether you’re shy or incredibly confident, quiet events like this are for everyone.
If you didn’t go to this party, you pretty much missed out on a good time! But don’t worry…
