On January 7th, a short documentary – The Hustle is Real – was released, highlighting Jersey City’s own DJ Prestige. The big focus of the documentary is a tribute to those who make a living doing what they love and being passionate about what you do.
Filmmaker Thomas Draudt has made short films about artists throughout his career, and he found that the approach to highlighting DJ culture had to come from a very informed perspective.
DJ Prestige makes a living as a DJ and his passion for music shines through his work. You can feel it when you listen in on one of his sets. He knows what to play and when to play it, always keeping the vibe going and elevating the energy of any venue. He’s also the mastermind behind Flea Market Funk, paying tribute to all things vinyl with the goal of “preserving the music and culture of the DJ lifestyle authentically through reviews, original and guest mixes, interviews, and much more.” If there’s anyone who’s passionate about music and DJing, it’s DJ Prestige, so we’re super excited to see his passion and hard work be highlighted in an incredible short film.
