Looking for some summer jams to soundtrack your day at Liberty State Park? Maybe, something to accompany you on a bike ride down by the waterfront? Look no further than super chill indie outfit Perennial Reel. This three-piece hailing from The Heights burst onto the New Jersey scene back in 2013 with their debut full length “Silver Plane Crucifix” now, fast forward two years and these dudes are currently on a full U.S. tour and getting ready to drop their brand new album Ribbon at the end of August.
Dropping two new tracks from the upcoming LP Perennial Reel is showing their fans that they have locked into their sound and are creating some of their best material to date. Guitarist/Vocalist Evan Dibbs kicks off “Prisms/Deserts” with an entrancing delayed guitar riff that is sure to get stuck in your head for days only to be followed by a deep groove by drummer Rory Bauers that does an amazing job of tying everything together. “Blue Dress” is where Bassist/Synth/Vocalist Timothy Erbach shows his prowess kicking out a beautiful syncopated bass line to initially set the mood and then just hits it out of the park with the grooves emoting from his bass lines throughout the rest of the song.
It’s safe to say that I am VERY excited for the release of the new record and am even more excited to catch these guys live when they are home from tour. You can check out these two new songs and their last full length streaming on their bandcamp page at www.perennialreel.bandcamp.com where the songs can also be (AND I STRONGLY SUGGEST) purchased.
