Pride Month is the perfect opportunity to bring more attention to organizations who dedicate time and effort toward resources for the LGBTQ+ community. Along with the several LGBTQ+ organizations we highlighted last year and in 2018, here are plenty more to support and share.
National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance
About: The National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) is a federation of Asian-American, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander organizations that work toward educating the community and strengthening local LGBT AAPI groups.

About: Black And Latino LGBTQ Coalition is comprised of SGL/LGBTQ leaders who advocate, educate, and marshal resources to the community. Their goal is to provide education for issues within New York City’s LGBTQ community and support city-wide initiatives that benefit the community.

About: The Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (QWOCMAP) utilizes film to not only share stories of the LGBTQ+ community and destroy stereotypes, but also build a community around using the arts for activism.

About: The Translatinx Network is an organization that works toward providing necessities and services to the transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming community in New York City and the metro area. Services include employment and leadership training, peer support groups, and STI prevention and treatment.

About: The Center for Black Equity focuses on economic, health, and social equity of Black LGBTQ+ individuals through events and resources. Black LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations are among the events highlighted by the Center for Black Equity.

Lavender Rights Project
About: Founded by queer and trans attorneys working toward the representation of LGBTQ+ professionals in the legal field, the Lavender Rights Project provides low-cost civil legal services and programs for trans and queer low-income individuals and marginalized communities.

American Civil Liberties Union
About: The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a national foundation that fights for the rights of all individuals through a network of court lawyers and local activists. Their priorities are to “end discrimination, harassment and violence toward transgender people, to close gaps in our federal and state civil rights laws, to prevent protections against discrimination from being undermined by a license to discriminate, and to protect LGBTQ people in and from the criminal legal system.”

GLSEN
About: GLSEN was created by a group of teachers to organize supportive educators to advocate for policies designed to protect LGBTQ+ students as well as research and advise on those policies. The educators support student-led efforts within schools and communities in order to encourage safe school environments.
