Recently I’ve been a bit starved for new music. Now, I’m not saying all music released recently has been bad but nothing has particularly caught my ear. Basically, I haven’t heard a hook that has taken refuge in my head and refused to move out. Luckily I was contacted by Victory Dance, an indie pop powerhouse who just dropped their debut EP The Spectrum.

Victory Dance kicks it off with their debut single “Memphis”, a bluesy pop rock anthem with huge hooks and massive riffs. This song is upbeat and can easily get you clapping and stomping along from the start. Vocalist Kenny Collette kicks off the next track “We Ain’t Going Home” with a prominent declaration, that neither he nor the rest of Victory Dance are going home until they fulfill their dreams and aspirations.
Every song on this record is catchy as all hell between the vocal hooks and the guitar leads there is no shortage of material that will get unremittingly stuck in your head for days on end. One thing that I think sets these guys apart from the rest is the tasteful way Jason Krebs’ keyboard parts perfectly accent the songs. Many times in the indie/pop genre bands tend to rely exclusively on synth-driven hooks or others may not use a keyboard at all but these guys incorporate a tasteful focus on both.
Hailing from Jersey City but trying to make an impression on anyone willing to listen, Victory Dance is hitting the road at the end of April with Chicago’s David Paige. Making stops in Chicago, Baltimore and finally ending their trip with a hometown show at Maxwell’s in Hoboken (I mean, it’s close enough) these guys are sure to make an impression supporting this powerhouse EP.
