When I initially went to 660 Studios I didn’t get a chance to take a peak at their skate ramp. I came back a few days later just to take a few pictures to add to this post. After seeing the place and meeting Corey aka Emilio, I said to myself “Yup I need to write about this!” Corey also runs the Jersey City Screen Print Shop right from a hot room (due to the print equipment) in the 660 Studio/Ramp Space.
Dude, who knew this existed in Jersey City?! This place is rad, if only I knew how to skateboard…. well I have cute skater outfits circa Avril Lavigne…does that count?
Can you tell me where the skateboards on the ceiling are from? “A lot of them were boards of members here. When the boards got old and they weren’t good anymore they hang them up.”
How does one get to skate here? “It’s a private membership, like a gym membership… Everyone pays once a month and they come whenever they want… smoke and drink. You get a code and you can come anytime to hang out and skate…”
Can you tell me about your print shop? “We do fine art printing and apparel printing. Either small businesses or large companies that need sample printing sometimes…. fine art galleries. We do stuff for Freshly Baked Downtown, Johnathan Levine Gallery…. and other artists.
What are you making now? “I am making T-shirts for a company that delivers stuff to kids at camp… so if your kid is at a camp and he forgets his underwear these guys will deliver it. We do alot of small business!”
It’s so hot in here I can’t even concentrate! “So this thing heats up , this is what we use to make the shirts… it’s like an oven. I’ve put Pizza through this!”
Haha… so how would people contact you if they want t-shirts made? www.jerseycityscreenprinting.com we do t-shirts prints and posters.
So do you do some designs ? “If needed. I am a graphic designer and also mural painter.”
What’s your artist name? Emilio
