On Saturday July 15th, the Saturday Jump Start Summer Series is back! It’s kicking off with a drama workshop hosted by Art House Productions and a studio tour at Mana Contemporary. Saturday Jump Start is a free and education series providing the youth with workshops focusing on career readiness, building important skill sets, and preparing for post-secondary education. It’s a part of the Jersey City Summer Works program, which provides the youth with employment opportunities.
Jersey City residents ages 15 to 21 can enjoy a range of enrichment opportunities, from training and certification in adult and pediatric first aid to workshops to develop coding skills with NPower. Participants also have the opportunity to tour colleges throughout the state and can also earn community service credit from the Jersey City Public Schools.
The program will kick off this Saturday with a spoken word and theater workshop offered by Art House Productions at the Bethune Community Center (140 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive) from 10 AM to 2 PM, as well as a studio tour at Mana Contemporary (888 Newark Ave) from 12 PM to 2 PM. Space is limited, so be sure to register now!
Jump Start workshops are offered every Saturday this summer through August 26th. The series will end with a youth justice conference on August 30th in collaboration with the Jersey City Youth Counsel, the city’s youth court program.
To participate in the workshops, participants ages 15 to 21 have to register in advance at www.jerseycityyouthworks.org. The workshops are free and lunch is provided.
