Every year on June 27, the Jersey City AIDS Task Force and national organizations across the country observe National HIV Testing Day.
HIV Testing Day is meant to encourage individuals to get tested for HIV, especially since about one in seven people in the US who have HIV don’t know that they are HIV positive. This year, the Jersey City AIDS Task Force will be holding an event from 2PM to 6PM at the City Hall Annex on 360 Martin Luther King Dr. Their ultimate goal is to educate, create, and increase awareness within the community on the importance of early HIV detection.
According to the NJ Department of Health & Human Services, over 37,000 individuals were reported living with HIV or AIDS in NJ. Hudson County has 5008 residents living with HIV/AIDS, and Jersey City has 2926 residents. All afternoon, there’ll be referrals, education, and prevention services as well as FREE on-site HIV counseling and testing.
Stop by, get tested, and stay informed!
