- New Jersey is reporting a total of 92,387 positive cases. The statewide fatalities is now a total of 4,753.
- A trend of cases shows there’s a significant flattening of the curve, but not enough to go back to a normal life. Social distancing will continue.
- As of last night: there are currently 7,594 hospitalizations connected to COVID-19. 1,930 require critical/intensive care. Last night, hospitals reported 630 discharges.
- Of the current deaths that the state has complete information on. 49.9% are white, non-Hispanic. 22.2% are black, non-Hispanic. 16.6% are Hispanic, 5.5% are Asian non-Hispanic, and 5.4% identified as Other, non-Hispanic.
- Black/African-American representation in fatalities is about 50% higher than their state population. The Hispanic representation among fatalities has been slighter lower than their overall representation in the state. The Black/African-American positive testing number is consistent with fatalities while the Hispanic fatalities number is significantly higher than the number of positive results.
- Hudson County currently has 11,636 cases.
- As of last night, Jersey City has 3,812 cases.
- One of the Jersey City testing sites has moved to the Bethune Center to make sure every area of the city has access to testing. Testing has also been expanded to nursing homes.
- Coach C of Jersey City shared that the Mask Up Jersey City team gave out 1,350 pair of gloves and masks in the North and South parts the city.
- There are currently 73 testing facilities in New Jersey. You can find local testing sites on covid19.nj.gov/testing.

- The United States currently has over 800,000 positive cases. Over 74,000 individuals have recovered.
- Trump is signing an order to temporarily suspend immigration to the US and is expected to include the halt of “the issuance of new green cards and work visas.”
- Congress reached a stimulus deal to include $310 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program, $75 billion toward hospitals and health care providers, $30 billion for testing, and $60 billion for disaster relief loans and grants.
- Oktoberfest has been cancelled this year in Germany.
- Air Canada has suspended flights to the US until May 22.
- Children under 14 in Spain can now accompany one adult on essential trips.
- Georgia has decided to open nail salons, massage therapists, bowling allies, and gyms starting Friday. Several gyms and churches have decided they would not open despite the governor’s order.
- Hong Kong has extended their closures and social distancing measures for another 14 days, now until May 7.
- The Prime Minister of Italy released a 5-point plan for managing the virus including continued social distancing, a reinforced health care system, special COVID-19 hospitals, antibody testing, and contact tracing through the app Immuni.
- The Pride parade scheduled for June in New York City has been cancelled.

- Governor Cuomo of New York saies the state regions would coordinate their reopenings once the economy is ready.
- Mayor de Blasio announced that NYC will throw a ticker tape parade to honor health care workers and first responders.
