Jersey City has a great number of passionate community members who have been sharing initiatives, rallies and protests, workshops, and more community-oriented activities. Below are a few of the local groups and individuals we’ve been keeping up with for updates and events.
Black Men United
Black Men United focuses on providing education, activism, leadership, and community development to provide stabilization within the Black community. They hold workshops and lectures live on Instagram to discuss activism and theology, as well as organize community events including clean ups and rallies.
Black Men United are currently working with the Black Diaspora Club and Jersey City Anti-Violence Coalition Movement for weekly rallies at City Hall.
Black Diaspora
The Black Diaspora Club of McNair Academic aims to celebrate the diaspora and encourage diverse perspectives. They recently organized a rally at City Hall and are bringing a weekly rally along with Black Men United and JCACM. They are also working with Para Mi Gente for a Union City rally.
Solidarity Jersey City
Solidarity Jersey City is a unity and resistance network that shares campaigns and helpful services, shares local community events, and provides resources.
Black Lives Matter Hudson County

The Black Lives Matter Hudson County page was created to provide helpful information on the movement with a specific focus on local events and updates.
Students Demand Action Hudson County

Students Demand Action was created to end gun violence in this country. They currently provide resources for local protesters, COVID-19 updates, local news, and gatherings in the area.
Jersey City Anti-Violence Coalition Movement
The Jersey City Anti-Violence Coalition’s mission is to create safer streets and empower the community through education and helpful resources. They address violence and brutality in Jersey City, as well as organize community-oriented activities and protests to bring awareness to issues.
Para Mi Gente

Para Mi Gente is a Latinx community-based group that highlights local Latinx culture, artists, and small businesses. They also highlight local resources for LGBTQ+ and Latinx individuals, and they have organized a Shake the Block protest scheduled to take place in Union City.
Newark Community Action Network @newark.can
The Newark Community Action Network is a team of organizers and residents of Newark who provide resources to the community. They have been sharing information for protests and community events in Newark and Jersey City along with books to read, weekly fundraisers, and raffles for groceries.
Newark Water Coalition
The Newark Water Coalition’s mission is to inform and educate residents on their drinking water while calling on government officials and community organizations to help spread the information. They have organized a Mutual Aid March to shift the budget to benefit the community in health, housing, and water quality among other needs.
