Dear Jersey City,
The last 48 hours have been the most trying in my career running this website. I’ve made a lot of mistakes along the way and have learned many valuable lessons.
About a month ago I got a tip that a local restaurant/cultural staple in Jersey City would be closing. I was devastated. I didn’t share this news or reach out to the owners because it was still premature. When I get this type of information I don’t really know what to do. Ignoring it makes me feel like I’m lying, but telling the truth is equally difficult, if not harder for me.
From the beginning this blog has been about Jersey City and I’ve always tried to focus on things with a positive mentality, writing unfavorable things that are happening around us isn’t really me. However I felt a duty to be honest and report what I know. But the way I did it was wrong. I am here admitting to this and publicly apologizing for the statements I made.
Any news regarding a beloved local institute possibly closing isn’t easy for anyone to hear. A business I’ve been happy to support from the start of the blog. I’ve always had a respect and love for their establishment and all they have contributed to the community.
A few days ago, information regarding this business became public and I was presented with information that I felt should be shared with the community. Now instead of reaching out to the owners to have a conversation, inform them of the information I had and give them a chance to tell their side. I published it. This was a mistake, this was an impulsive decision and I will forever regret it.
I jumped the gun and full heartedly take responsibility for my actions. I never wanted to harm or hurt anyone, my intentions were not malicious in any way. I take this job very seriously and to heart. My passion has always been about spreading love and supporting the very people and businesses that make this community.
LITM’s means “Love Is The Message,” at the end of the day that’s what I want people to remember. This business was and still is a pioneer in this town. They provided a space for all communities to unite and Jersey City is a better place because of it.

Don’t be so hard on yourself Chicpea! I am sad to see LITM go, it was one of the first bars I went to when I moved to JC 15 years ago and it has remained one of favorite local spots. Hope the next owner appreciates Jersey City artists as much as they did.
I appreciate your acknowledgement of making a mistake. We all do from time to time. When people ask about what “fake news” means, I always say that legitimate sources.always acknowledge their mistakes and try to tell the truth.
It would be nice to know which business you are writing about but……
