Nationwide mayors and state representatives participated with the local ShopRite of their towns and bagged groceries for a number of eager customers.
Mayor Steven Fulop partnered with the ShopRite of Jersey City to help bagging groceries in order to raise funds and awareness for national hunger.
Mayor Fulop’s effort is part of ShopRite’s annual “Help Bag Hunger” initiative to help in ending national hunger. Shop Rite has deemed the month of September “National Hunger Action Month” and today was a great day for taking action.
According to a press release issued by ShopRite Partners In Caring, the initiative has generated $38 million in donations to local food banks and supported more than 1,700 charities that feed the hungry since its inception in 1999.
Fulop and other volunteered donned a tan “Help Bag Hunger” smock and helped to bag hunger. Present as a helper was CHICpea, she was stationed at the end of a secondary register bagging groceries for customers.
Help Bag Hunger will run through the span of September—so donate a $1 to help end national hunger!
